For casual use, I don't think it's so bad, as long as the dog owner takes the dog out regularly in between the treadmill exercises.
a lot of them fail, it's just not showing those.
I think it is one of the most useful things for a dog when people are too busy or physically weak (the dog can be too strong) to walk the dog. It's not lack of love when you phsically can't do it. When me and my brothers are at home we can walk the dog but when my parents are alone i'm sure they would love a break :s

Wow, I don't know how a dog would find joy in a treadmill... it seems cruel to me :S would never put my cat on that thing, even if he is a bit chubby.

Perhaps people with crufts type show dogs can use it as walk trainer to get their catwalk style right before entry...for me taking a dog for a walk is so it can run around and shit on the playing fields

Listen to the pitch. It's for rehabilitation and fitness training for competition. Its not for those simply wanting to take mutts for a walk. WATCH, READ, LISTEN
let their dog get fat, since they couldn't walk it anymore; ask friends/family to walk the dog;give the dog away;... i think it's alot more pleasing for the owners to atleast be able to give their doggs that but that's just my opinion.
So what did old people do 10 years ago?
the machine is handy for ppl who are not able to walk their dog anymore like old ppl who suddenly got alot worse and now need a cane to walk. that's what happened to walking a dog.
