Nikujaga is the popular and famous cuisine in Japan.
The taste of potatoes that absorbed the soup is fabulous!

About how much beef is called for in the recipe? It looks like about 200g or 250g. Does it have to be a very fatty cut or can a lean cut of beef also be used?

  10. PlatypusGuitar says:

except for dashi, all of these ingrediants are easily found in north america

  17. gibberishtwist says:

I don't see tomatoes very often either, but I've seen ketchup in a lot of recipes, if that counts =P

  21. MurasakiNeko says:

@MelodiaSeira It's like the difference between cooking wine and wine. You can cook with both, but you probably don't want to drink the cooking variety straight.

  22. MurasakiNeko says:

@MelodiaSeira I've done it with chicken, it's pretty good.

  23. 1CME90 says:

This looks good but it never seems to be enough. I need a man size meal, not some little bowl of meat and vegetables.

  24. takadi says:

Seriously, all Japanese food is some variation of soy sauce dashi and mirin.
