Don't follow the game of this closed minded moron. He can't understand the fact that cultural things are subjective can not be measured. They only see what they want to see, no matter what. They don't understand the concept of symbolism and higher self , well explained by serious Psycholgy studies. It's beyond their rationalism. Just don't waste your energy with this dude trying to explain to him things that he is not able to digest.
You don't need to be an expert to answer such basic questions. The fact that astrology has been around for a long time doesn't mean anything. Most of the population was deluded when they believed the Earth was flat or that the sun was a god - beliefs that similarly persisted for millennia.
I am not claiming to be an expert on astrology merely an interested layman. It is not all a fake or a sham for it has lasted for over 5000 years and id common in all cultures.For it to be so all pervasive there must be some truth to it. THE ENTIRE POPULATION couldnt be deluded
If you are claiming that astrology is genuine and has some function or value, please define clearly what astrology is, what it is capable of and what its limitations are.
This idea is based on personal experience. Earlier I did not see the value of astrology and saw many of the personal problems as chance and merely random phenomena.now a tool exists to illuminate such situations. Also if as science hopothesize that we live in a multiverse and there other realities why can not such things be merely a delusion?
You're beginning with a preconceived belief and expecting others to prove it negatively. It's like saying "I believe in pixies and fairies, but am willing to accept that I'm wrong if someone proves they don't exist". There is no evidence that astrology is a genuine phenomenon, but you're claiming that it is, that things are different from what we observe. You've asserted that you not just believe, but actually KNOW it to be true, and your claim hasn't met its burden of proof.
oh yes! I see your point and see why you hold such a sceptical position and I was like that previously and am perfectly willing to accept the possibility that astrology as self-deception and mytth if it can be irrefutably proven it is so.
Nor me. My mind is open to the possibility that astrology is a real phenomenon, if supporting evidence can be shown. Is your mind open to the possibility that astrology doesn't work and is nothing more than self-deception or myth?
The evidence I have is anecdotal and can not be scientifically tested yet. I do not expect anyone else to believe it. Personally I do not want to close my mind to possibilities.
Then provide some evidence that astrology has some basis in reality, or go away. Skeptics are not interested in unsupported claims.

With 'a tool for self-discovery', I have now been given 12 distinct definitions of astrology, some of which are contradictory. If you're happy believing this stuff, it's your privilege to do so, but don't expect others to agree with you when you say there is value in it. I prefer to be as sure as I can about the world around me, eliminating as many falsehoods and misconceptions as possible.
If you say it is new age hocus pocus then it is, But for me I know that there is some merit to it.Astrology is a tool for selfdiscovery. for me there is some value to it

no statistical evidence so it is not irrefutable. When it comes to my persoal experience it has been satisfactory for me. We are all part of creation and each is related to others. But the western mind can not or will not accept that.

There is some value in astrology but for puposes of investing it is important to be facile in technical analysis as well as astrology
