Today Nintendo unveils the next leap in gaming by demonstrating its upcoming Wii™ home console, which lets users manipulate action on their television screens through the precise, life-like motion of the Wii Remote. Continuing Nintendo's long tradition of developing highly innovative products that redefine the standards for the industry, Wii (pronounced "we") will allow players to "feel" games in a way never known before: the adrenaline of a tennis match, the thrill of making an airplane bank or the rush of gripping the wheel of a speeding truck. The control scheme is simple enough that everyone, no matter what their prior gaming experience, can use it with ease and will want to try it. "Not only is Wii compelling to current game players, but it also will entice new players with new experiences," explains Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. nintendo has surely won the war so far, but its fans have lost. every1 expects so much outta the wii, an then eventually get bored of it. ther arent that many amazing games out 4 it. then again i am a fanboy so wat do i know?
@Dalryk Hardcore games don't sell on nintendo's console unless it's an IP that everybody loves, like Mario and Zelda. Zack and Wiki, Mad World, Dead Space: Extraction, Red Steel 2 -- these game aren't moving off the shelves. And you know what? Nintendo doesn't give a shit because they already know that Wii Play, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Don't Have To Try Anymore, are going to sell like hotcakes.

Only in your mind, 'cause contrary to popular belief the Wii does not lack hardcore games. The difference between games for the Wii and its competitors is that most of the Wii's 'core games are exclusives and many aren't big names, so many hardcore gamers are afraid of taking a chance of them.
Take Little King's Story, for example. At first glance it seems to be for little kids. But it actually has a very deep and mature gameplay.

How are you defining successful, because I think 70 million units sold is pretty successful...

Nothing gimmicky about the Wiimote. I said it as soon as they displayed it at the 2005 Tokyo Game Show: Wii is the Future of Gaming. And now XBox 360 & PS3 are doing their best to catchup with Nintendo's industry-wide Revolution. Only thing is...they will fail. Their motion-controllers are add-ons not central to the design of the console & more importantly their audience is one that picked them to ESCAPE the Wii. But they had to do it. It was inevitable. Wii is the Future.

This is interesting. I forgot how much money the remaining schools could make from the penatly fees. The remaining 5 schools could try to broker a football alliance with the Big East but remain the Big 12 in name.
Officials from five Big 12 schools -- Kansas, Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor -- held a conference call on Saturday, The Kansas City Star reported. The schools agreed they would like to continue as members of the Big 12.
The five potential teams that could be left in the Big 12 if the exodus of five others continues to the Pac-10 would be wise to remain together, a conference commissioner with experience dealing with expansion told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.
The reason is simple: The five remaining schools would be due a huge payday and ultimately could salvage automatic berths to the NCAA tournament and possibly the BCS through expansion themselves.
The commissioner, who didn't want to be identified because he's involved in the ongoing realignment of college athletics, told Katz it would be critical for Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Baylor and Iowa State to maintain the Big 12 as an entity or corporation.
"The assets, the amount of money that they would be due by exit fees back to the corporation would be huge," said the commissioner. "Rather than dissolve the Big 12, they are better off as a Big 12 entity then moving to the Mountain West."
